Competition Rounds
  • Round 1

    Website opens for on line registrations,29 Seprtember 2011:
    The website will open for registrations starting Thursday, September 19, 2011. Using their credentials, users are required to fill the online application form consisting of 18 questions that summarize their business idea and the means of implementing it. The application should be filled in English language.

    Deadline for submitting the online applications, 15 January 2012:
    The user may save the application as many times as necessary to fill it in. Once duly completed, the application will be considered for grading by pressing the "Submit" button.The deadline for submitting the applications is Sunday, January 15th 2012.

    Announcing first round winners. Tuesday, February 14 th, 2012:
    On Tuesday, February 14, 2012, Thirty applications will qualify for the second round of the Competition. The names of the winning teams will be posted on the Competition's website. Teams are then advised to do thorough research on business planning, acquire as much knowledge as possible about their business field, and develop at least a first draft of their business plan.

  • Round 2:

    Entrepreneurship Workshop in Egypt and Access to Mentors,16 and 17 March 2012:
    After almost a month of preparations on their own, the 30 teams will be invited to Cairo on Friday,March 16, and Saturday, March 17, 2012, to attend a two-day workshop lead by Ken Morse, Co-Founder 3Com and founding member of MIT Entrepreneurship Center in Cambridge, MA.
    Each team will also be designated a mentor that will be of a help when writing the business plan. Teams will have the chance to ask questions and get answers that are specific to their field of interest all over the period preceding the deadline of submission.

    Submitting Business Plans, 11 April 2012:
    The deadline for submitting full business plans is Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 23:59, GMT. Your business plan should be sent to the following e-mail address:submit@mitarabcompetition.com.

    Announcing second round winners, 8 May 2012:
    On Thursday, May 8, 2012, nine teams will qualify for the third round of the Competition. The names of the winning teams will be posted on the Competition's website:
  • Round 3:

    To better prepare the nine finalist teams for the final round, coaching sessions will be provided by Booz & Co. allowing the finalist teams to be more ready for the oral presentation.

    Oral Presentations and Awards Ceremony, in Beirut, June 21st, 2012:
    The nine teams will be invited to Beirut to present their business plans on Thursday in front of three renowned jurors. Three winning teams are to be announced in the evening of the same day, during an Award Ceremony hosted by Beirut.
